Plainfield Elementary fifth graders in Ms. Alexa Menolascino's physical education class started their volleyball unit this week.

At the beginning of the class one student led their classmates in a series of stretches.

After stretching, the students listened as Ms. Menolascino went over the learning objectives for the class.

The first techniques they practiced were the "bump" and "set," two key moves in the sport of volleyball.

Ms. Menolascino picked a few students to demonstrate the moves before they all formed into small groups and practiced on their own.

One student would throw the volleyball up in the air while the next student would either "bump" or "set" the ball, aiming to get the ball into the basketball hoop.
