Plainfield's Principal a Golden Apple Winner!
Community Consolidated School District 62 is proud to announce Dr. Lisa Carlos has won the 2024 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership.
Dr. Carlos was selected as an award recipient from more than 100 nominations of Pre-K-12th grade school leaders across the State of Illinois.
Dr. Carlos has been Principal of Plainfield Elementary School since 2018.
“I am beyond honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Dr. Carlos. “I have and continue to remain the proud and grateful Principal of Plainfield Elementary School. “This award is a testament to the incredible work of our staff, students and families as well as our community. It is through this collaboration and genuine partnership that we have created a special place to learn here at Plainfield Elementary School.”
The Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership honors exemplary performance in school leadership by a principal or head of school who has had a significant and sustained positive impact on the school, created a culture of inclusivity, and delivered dramatic student growth.
“Dr. Carlos is truly deserving of this award,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Amadei. “Her unwavering commitment to student success, her genuine care for the staff and families of Plainfield and her ability to foster a kind, caring and thriving learning environment are truly remarkable.”
According to the Golden Apple Foundation, the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership recipients receive a cash award of $10,000, with $5,000 for the school leader and $5,000 to the school for a project of the recipient’s choosing.
