Writing, Drawing, Counting and Sharing Ice Cream Flavors!

On a recent morning they received a worksheet in which they had to circle what day of the week it was, identify what the weather was like that day, and practice writing a few sentences by tracing letters. 

The students also had the chance to draw anything they wanted in an empty box on the worksheet.

While the students worked on their sheets, Ms. Lopez walked around the classroom and helped them if they needed it.

She showed some students how to hold their pencils so it was easier for them to write.

The next activity was saying their names and "good morning" to each other.

A volunteer was selected to be the helper for the next activity.

He used a pointer to show which month it was and used a counter to figure out how many days they have been in school so far. 

The students then stood up on the edges of the carpet, held hands and closed their eyes.

Ms. Lopez asked them to think about what their favorite flavor of ice cream was. 

They walked around the room with their hands up while music was playing.

When the music stopped they had to find a partner, give them a high five and then share their favorite ice cream flavor.

They then moved onto workstations where they could work together in small groups, playing with different kids of blocks and counting and adding dice together.

The kindergarteners are looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning!
