Fifth graders at Plainfield Elementary School treated the entire school to a Lunar New Year celebration!

Leading up to the celebration, the fifth graders in Music and Drama Teacher Ms. Stephanie Wubbena's class learned all about the traditions and stories behind the Lunar New Year.

The celebration included music, dance and even a handmade lion which they paraded through the hallways and classrooms.

As part of the celebration, students played cymbals, recorders and drums.

The students learned that the Lunar New Year, which began February 17, is a period known for energy, ambition and changes.

The year 2026 is the year of the fire horse, which focuses on bravery, speed, hard work, leadership and an adventurous spirit.

The fifth graders visited every classroom in the school to share their music and dance for the Lunar New Year celebration
