Creating a Celestial Masterpiece
Plainfield Elementary School fifth graders in Mr. Ward's art class had fun working on a sun and moon project, using both cool and warm colors to create their masterpiece.
At the start of class two students handed out the paper and the circle templates the students were going to use to start their drawings.
Substitute Teacher Ms. Larson had the students first fold their papers in half and then they used the template to draw a circle on their page.
The students drew a curved line in the center of the circle to create the dual faces of the moon and sun.
They then drew the eyes and the mouth of the moon and sun.
Next, students made craters on the moon side of the face and triangular sun rays on the sun side of the face.
The last step of the project was to draw half circles on the side of the moon face.
Once they were done with their drawings the students colored their project, using cool colors for the moon and warm colors for the sun.
The students had a fun time creating their celestial masterpiece, adding in fun textures and details to make their project unique.
