Celebrating the Lunar New Year!

Plainfield
Plainfield students were treated to a Lunar New Year celebration recently thanks to the school's fifth graders.
Leading up to the celebration, the fifth graders in Music and Drama Teacher Stephanie Wubbena's class learned all about the traditions and stories behind the Lunar New Year.
Wubbena said the celebration included food, a handcrafted lion, music and dance.
As part of the celebration, students played cymbals, recorders and drums.
They even arranged the music into an order and sequence they felt was right for the celebration, Wubbena said.
The fifth graders also built and decorated a lion to use for the dance portion of the celebration.
They visited every classroom in the school to share their music and dance for the Lunar New Year.
All of the students had fun learning all about this tradition!
