1st Graders Have a Ball Attempting Bal-A-Vis-X Exercises!
Plainfield

Plainfield Elementary School first graders in Ms. Deanne Riportella's class were challenged to unique exercises using bounce balls this week.

The series of exercises, referred to as "Bal-A-Vis-X," are designed to improve hand-eye coordination, balance and motor skills.

The first graders were first asked to drop their ball and then had to catch it with just one hand when it bounced back up.

Ms. Riportella then had the students drop the ball with their other hand, repeating the same exercise.

To make things even more difficult, Ms. Riportella demonstrated a maneuver in which she dropped the ball with her right hand, caught it, passed it behind her back to her left hand and then dropped it and caught it again.

The students had fun attempting that exercise. The final exercise involved the students pairing up and bouncing the ball to one another.

They were tasked with catching the ball and bouncing it back using different hands each time.

The students learned that if they bounced the ball in the middle of them it was easier to catch.

Everyone had fun improving their motor skills and coordination!
